Secret technique to increase your search engine rankings.
0:00Hey, it's Murders, and in this video,
0:02we're going to talk about a rarely used
0:04SEO hack
0:05that can greatly increase your
0:07business's visibility
0:08and get you more site traffic, and that's
0:11with Google
0:12My Business. Now, Google My Business is a
0:15free service.
0:16It's basically extremely important
0:17because if you run a local photography
0:19business,
0:20you're probably looking for local
0:21clients. Now, we're going to follow some
0:23of these steps,
0:24and you're going to see that just by
0:26following these, you can get
0:28thousands of views to your photos. You
0:29can get hundreds of site
0:31visitor clicks, and because it's based on
0:34proximity,
0:35this is much easier to basically get up
0:37and get in front of people
0:39than just the regular search results. So
0:41I'm going to show you why.
0:42So, no kidding, if we look at this page
0:44and I turn on my MozBar,
0:46you're going to see in here that, no
0:48kidding, there's people in here with
0:5040. Oh, well, this is a directory. 40 domain listings, 21,
0:5413, 17, 14, 16,
0:5811, 17. And if you're just starting
1:01out, or if your domain authority is lower,
1:03and this is a ranking
1:05from zero to a hundred
1:06that's given by Moz. It's almost like
1:08a guesstimate of how much you're trusted.
1:10Well, it might take you a few
1:13months to get up here if you have a
1:14brand new website. And if you're on page
1:15five, six, or seven, you could be weeks or
1:18even months as well to get to the top.
1:20But look at this. There's no kidding, and
1:23this is actually highly competitive.
1:24This is one of my clients here, and while
1:26she is on page one, we've gotten her on
1:28page one, and she's about halfway up.
1:30She's also at the top of this, and you
1:33can see how much bigger
1:34this is. Now, the great thing about that
1:37is
1:38it's not hyper-competitive. Okay, so let's
1:40look at, let's look at something like
1:42New Jersey newborn photographer. So, New Jersey,
1:46New Jersey newborn photographer.
1:50You can see that it's pretty competitive
1:52up here as well.
1:54But there's people in here that, no
1:55kidding, just have eight reviews. They
1:57have no reviews.
1:59So how the heck are they getting up
2:00there and just kind of skipping the line
2:03by not having to wait months or
2:06years to get to page one or even to the
2:08top result?
2:09Now, I'm going to walk you through that.
2:10So what you're going to do is you're
2:12simply going to come into Google and
2:13you're
2:13going to type in Google My Business.
2:17I'm going to sign in, but if you
2:20didn't have one, you're going to
2:21basically sign up for one. I'm going to
2:23sign in.
2:24Okay, so I've signed in. Now, this is an
2:26old listing. This is for
2:27my old photography company. I'm using it
2:29as an example.
2:31So don't spam me, don't send me mail. I
2:33don't live there anymore.
2:34But I use this as an example. So what
2:36you're going to do is you're going to
2:37come in here and you're literally
2:38going to scrub the entire thing. Now, if
2:41you didn't have one, you would have been
2:42forced to create one. It'll make you
2:44verify an
2:44address, and you can get that postcard in
2:46the mail. There is a way if you basically
2:49note that people don't come to your
2:51business that you can get away without
2:52having to use a physical address, but I
2:53suggest using a physical address.
2:55So you're going to come in here to info,
2:58and you're going to come in here and
2:59you're going to fill out
3:00every single piece. I even suggest,
3:03you know, you're not supposed to, you're
3:05only supposed to put your
3:06primary business name in there, but I
3:09suggest
3:09maybe even sneaking in your keyword. So,
3:13I'm going to put in family photographer, and
3:16I might even put premiere
3:18premier family photographer. Hit apply.
3:22If somebody reports me, it'll probably be
3:24taken down, but to be honest,
3:26if other people are gaming the system,
3:27then I'm going to do it as well.
3:30Now, another thing you can do is you can
3:32come in here and, no kidding, find
3:34every single category that you can
3:36possibly fall under.
3:38Now, you can see that I've already gone
3:39through here and I've typed in
3:40photographer, portrait studio,
3:42and you can just keep going if it fits
3:44you and find which ones actually
3:46relate to your business. You're not going to
3:48find ultra-specific ones, maybe
3:50newborn photographer or boudoir,
3:52but these should get you covered because
3:54it fulfills the intent.
3:56I also suggest coming in here and
3:58filling in the service area.
4:00That way, hopefully, it improves and it
4:02lets Google know,
4:03hey, by the way, this company also
4:05services this
4:06area, and hopefully you'll start showing
4:09up in those local rankings as well.
4:11And look, of course, you can try to
4:12keyword stuff on your page and so on,
4:14but to be honest, if we have this tool
4:16from Google, why not just use it? Why not
4:18just go into the database that they use
4:20for their search results
4:22and put it in there? It's
4:23completely free, and this takes all of 10,
4:2520 minutes. I suggest that you make your
4:27business look a little bit more
4:28real by putting in work hours, and
4:31hopefully people will respect them and
4:32not call you at three in the morning.
4:35Put your website in there. If you have a
4:37contact page or you have some sort of
4:39scheduler, I suggest you put that in as
4:41well. You're also going to come into
4:43services, and what you're going to do
4:45here is you can come in here and
4:46basically put in,
4:48you know, all of your services, and this
4:49is your chance to write keywords in here.
4:51You can see you have a thousand
4:52characters. You can leave the price empty,
4:54but let's just say you're a new,
4:56you know, baby photographer. You can put cake
4:58smash in there. You can put
5:00maternity, newborn. You can put milestone
5:02sessions. You can put one-year birthdays.
5:05If you're doing boudoir, you can make the
5:08top section boudoir. Then you can do,
5:10you know, couples, newborns, same sex. You
5:12can do intimate sessions,
5:14pin up, whatever the case is. It's really,
5:16really useful because you can put your
5:18keywords in there and basically tell
5:19Google, hey, by the way, when people are
5:20looking for these services,
5:22show them my result because I'm
5:24indicating that I fulfill these.
5:26Okay, so you're going to keep going.
5:30And let's go. Sometimes you'll get,
5:31you'll get attributes.
5:34I'm not really clear, depending on what
5:36kind of business it is or what you have
5:38on your website.
5:38It'll give you different options. So,
5:40I've seen people with physical
5:42structures, like in a building, it'll ask
5:43if it's wheelchair accessible,
5:45you know, if there's restrooms and stuff,
5:47but for me, there's none of that.
5:49Next, this is where you're going to put your
5:51description in here, and you have about
5:52750 words. I strongly suggest you write
5:55this for human eyes.
5:56You put your keywords in there, and you
5:58can see I
5:59clearly didn't write enough. I can keep
6:01going with that, but it's really cool
6:03because,
6:03hey, that's basically where I can put,
6:05you know, three times in my meta description
6:07here and make it even more clear because
6:09obviously this is connected to my
6:10website.
6:12And when they're showing local results,
6:13because people are looking for local
6:14services, they're going to come through here
6:16and they're going to scan this, and
6:17hopefully you get put
6:18on the first page as well at the top of
6:20those,
6:21the three-pack of maps at the top of the
6:23page.
6:24So I'm going to keep going, and I'm going to
6:27suggest that you add as many
6:29photos as possible. So you can see I've
6:32neglected this because I've been doing
6:33photography in a long
6:34time, but I strongly suggest you put in
6:37as
6:37many pictures as possible.
6:40Make yourself look as legitimate as
6:42possible. Put pictures of yourself, put
6:44pictures
6:45of your team, of your interior, exterior.
6:47You can even do
6:48video. Ask your customers to update,
6:51upload them. Put your logo in there.
6:53Upload it and basically fill that out to
6:56the nines.
6:57The next thing you're going to do is
6:59you're going to come in here and you're
7:00going to create posts.
7:02Now, the cool thing is, look, I've
7:03written a blog on this.
7:05So what I can do, and I suggest you do
7:07this, is look, if you've already written a
7:09blog,
7:10one thing that's really easy is you can
7:11come in here and just grab the first
7:13like thousand words. Obviously, this is
7:14the lazy version of doing it,
7:16but you can come grab the first
7:181500 words and just
7:20write at the bottom, just write something
7:21like, if you'd like
7:24to read more, click the button.
7:28And then, no kidding, I'm going to
7:30add my image
7:31at the top, and I would just grab my URL,
7:35and I would just come in here, add a
7:36button and say,
7:38learn more. And I'm going to come in here
7:40and put my link in there, and then I
7:42would publish it.
7:43And the cool thing is, you can do this
7:44if you're running an event, if you're
7:46running an offer,
7:48you know, hopefully you're not running
7:49any sales, but
7:51if you are, then, no kidding, you can come
7:53in there and put them as well
7:54along with your blogs. And you'd be
7:56surprised, at first you might not see a
7:58huge impact, but you'll start seeing
7:59you'll get 40, 50, 60 views from those
8:02posts, and you'll start getting some
8:03clicks and traffic to your website.
8:05And that's a really good indicator to
8:07Google if your people are clicking on
8:09that and they're reading that, hey, let's
8:10keep showing that, and you're just going
8:11to show up there more and more and more.
8:13So if you're writing weekly or bi-weekly
8:15or even monthly blogs,
8:17you can make sure to come in and put
8:18them in here.
8:20And last but not least, and by the way,
8:22before I get into reviews,
8:24you can, no kidding, come into the
8:25messaging, and there's so many cool
8:27things you can do in here.
8:28You can, you know, set this up. You can
8:31come in here.
8:32I'm not going to suggest you build a
8:33website in here. Hopefully, you do have
8:34your own website,
8:35but there's a lot of different areas, and
8:37just fill in every single nook and
8:38cranny, and take a look around. Look at
8:40the insights.
8:41I also suggest getting as many reviews
8:44as possible.
8:45That means every time somebody's leaving
8:47your studio or
8:48even afterwards, if they haven't already
8:50done so, you're going to send reminders.
8:52You can even follow up with them, call
8:53them, and make sure that you're getting
8:55reviews.
8:56You can do this right after the session.
8:58You can do it during their ordering
8:59session.
8:59The most important thing is that you try
9:01to aim to get
9:03at least twice as many reviews as the
9:06person that's closest to you.
9:07So if somebody has 33, your game is to
9:10get to 66. You see how much more
9:11impressive this looks
9:13than having none and having 4.4. So,
9:16before you leave, hopefully you can like,
9:17leave a comment, and subscribe. And I want
9:19to hear from you.
9:20What did you improve on your Google My
9:22Business after watching this?
9:24And how many more reviews are you going
9:26to go get?
9:27I'll see you in the next one.
